Chuck is embarking on a journey of self discovery while pursuing wealth creation.
Meet Chuck or is it William or Bill or…?
I have one of those names in need of some explanation to avoid unintentional embarrassment. My full legal name is William Charles Dimmitt Jr. I feel I need to explain myself with regard to my name and the many unintentional variations such as: W.C. Dimmitt or W.C. Dimmitt Jr or William C Dimmitt Jr or William Dimmitt or William Charles Dimmitt Jr or Wil Dimmitt or W. Chuck Dimmitt or W. Chuck Dimmitt Jr or simply Chuck Dimmitt. When I sign up for something, I use my legal name minus the middle name and Jr suffix. This is unintentional because the form usually asks for first and last name with no place for my middle name or middle initial and Jr suffix, therefore you get William Dimmitt. William Dimmit is my dad’s name and can lead to confusion when we are together. When I was young my mom nicknamed me Chuck, using my middle name. Therefore, I am more comfortable with Chuck Dimmitt as my preferable form of my name because it has been used most of my life. Adding William usually has no response from me. Unless you are mom who used my full name when I was in trouble. If my mom yelled, “William Charles Dimmitt Jr!” I knew it was going to be bad. Yikes!
When I meet people in person and I am introduced as William… I receive questions like, “What should I call you, William or Bill?” To which I respond, “Chuck”. I get varied responses and looks. The varied responses include, “Ok, I will call you Bill” or “How is Chuck derived from William” or “How to you get Chuck from William?” or “I do not appreciate your sense of humor” of “Are you trying to mess with me?” and on and on. I appreciate the looks of confusion or you have to be kidding me or are you serious or the ever wonderful eyeroll. Over the years I have gotten used to it and have a great sense of humor and I am not easily offended. Thanks Mom and Dad!
My Intentions for this Blog…
I am busy most of the time working. However, when I have a free moment or the need arises, I fix our washer, dryer, dishwasher, build something for my kids, fix automobiles, help neighbors, replace other broken parts around the house, and many other projects around the house. I have found I really enjoy the challenge and excitement of figuring it out and successfully fixing the issue! At first, I wanted to create a blog to document my many activities around the house as a resource for my family, friends, and others who may benefit from my expertise. However, in October of 2020, I walked away from a job of almost 20 years. Since, I have been trying to start a business, but I realized I need help and I have been reaching out. Therefore, now my blog will also document my journey toward wealth creation. I look forward to documenting this journey of self discovery and getting out of my comfort zone. My wife refers to me as The Pretender because I have been able to figure out how to fix everything around the house saving lots of money. Now she is counting on me to figure out how to make money with my own business. Thanks Honey, no pressure!
New business! New fears! New adventures! New blog! Now my journey begins into the unknown getting me out of my comfort zone…
